Our Philanthropy

Did you know that Texas has the second-highest number of human trafficking cases in America? To combat this alarming reality, Texas Sunshines has partnered with the Sexual Violence Prevention Association (SVPA). Together, we hope to raise awareness about human trafficking both on campus and in the greater Austin community.

Texas Sunshines holds fundraisers, volunteer events, donation drives, town halls, expert panels, and self-defense classes in order to support and promote our cause. Periodically, we host guest speakers in order to better educate and provide additional insight on human trafficking to our members. Additionally, Texas Sunshines offers free self-defense classes to both our members and the general campus community. Our human trafficking panel at the end of each semester allows several panelists to discuss their involvement in bringing awareness and stopping human trafficking and what we as individuals can do to help.

In addition to partnering with SVPA, Texas Sunshines volunteers with various other organizations such as One Love, SAFE (Stop Abuse for Everyone), and Magdalene House.
